Chinatown Dining Week will be returning to downtown Edmonton again in January after a successful first outing last winter.
Organized by a small group of volunteers, the week is expanding to 11 days from nine and showcases eight restaurants (up from five last January). The goal is to promote some of the city’s hidden gems, including several Chinese eateries, but also other styles of dining.
There are five new restaurants this year, including Kanto 98 St., which features Filipino street-food and was shortlisted for the 2018 enRoute Best Restaurants list, the perennial vegan favourite Padmanadi, the Indian restaurant Namaste India, plus the Chinese noodle house Fuqing Lanzhou Noodles, and bubble tea specialists Tea Bar Cafe.
Chinatown Dining Week runs from Jan. 17-27. Participating restaurants offer a special, $15 fixed-price dinner menu for two courses after 5 p.m. The restaurants are listed at edmontonchinatown.ca, but their menus won’t be posted until Jan. 7, so check back later for more details and to get your mouth watering in anticipation.
